Your loved one’s cremation ashes are set within solid glass and crafted into a gemstone by our glassmakers at Barleylands Glassworks. Clearly visible within the glass, the ashes form a natural pattern unique to every gemstone.

We believe something this meaningful should be made to last. Your gemstone is specially toughened to withstand the knocks and bumps of everyday life. It will not become cloudy through exposure to water, sunlight or everyday household and personal-care products. The coloured glass will stay vibrant and will not fade over time.
How Are the Ashes Set Within the Glass?
Each gemstone is formed with layers of coloured glass, your loved one’s cremation ashes and clear glass. The coloured glass creates the backdrop, while the clear glass covers the ashes and keeps them visible within the finished gemstone.
Once cooled, the stone is cut and polished to reveal the finished gemstone and the natural pattern created by the ashes.

Barleylands Glassworks is part of Barleylands Craft Village, a community of craftspeople and independent businesses. Our workshops are open to visitors, so you can see for yourself where and how the gemstones are made.
