Ashes into jewellery creation

Ashes into Glass ® jewellery is created at Barleylands Glassworks, our home for more than 20 years. We create a one of a kind gemstone by layering the cremation ashes within 1200°c molten glass and coloured glass crystals.

The Ashes

We require one spoonful of the ashes per item ordered and will return the unused ashes together with your completed order. All ashes are different in particle size and colour. Please do not worry, our crafts people are experienced at working with all types of ashes.

Ashes into jewellery

The Ashes into Glass ® process of transforming the ashes into jewellery starts in our hot workshop. We use traditional techniques combined with our own unique, patented processes to create a beautiful, lasting tribute to the one you hold dear.

The layers

Your loved one’s ashes, coloured glass crystals and molten glass are skillfully layered together to create the gemstone. The multiple layers give the stone it’s look of dimension and depth.

Cutting & Polishing

Once cooled, it is expertly cut, polished and toughened before being set. The stone is even more durable than the metal and its beauty will stand the test of time, reflecting the bond you share with your loved one.

The Completed Stone

Like your loved one, each Ashes into Glass stone is different to all others. Yours may remind you of a starry night’s sky, a wispy cloud up above or maybe the ashes floating on a gentle breeze.

Our Hallmark

The metal part of Ashes into Glass jewellery is hand-cast in 9ct gold, sterling silver or white gold. It will be Assay-marked and will also have our own maker’s mark, “ASHES” which is our guarantee of the finest jewellery.

Final Polish

We take great care when creating your Ashes into Glass jewellery and we want the packaging to reflect this. Your completed item will be presented to you gift-wrapped together with it’s own certificate of authenticity.
